This is it. 2009 is officially out in less than 12 hours and in comes 2010.
There are three things that I like to do at this time of the year: Spend as much time with family and friends as possible, take some much deserved time away from the office to recharge the batteries, and most importantly, I like to reflect on the year past and everything that I experienced and learned. Instead of making a bunch of resolutions (which 99% of people inevitably fail at achieving) I urge you to do the same.
Look back at this year and remember the successes that you had. Remember some of the mistakes that you made, but be sure to recognize the lesson you learned from each of them. What worked for you this year? What didn’t? What are you grateful for? Who do you appreciate in your life? Have you told them? What things will you continue to do in the new year? What things will you change or do differently?
Use this “Power Thinking” to get yourself fired up, excited and committed to making this your best year ever. If you’ve recognized some things that you want to change, write them down and set them aside. Now is not the time to set goals and come up with game plans. Now is the time to simply “reset” your mind and get yourself thinking positively and excitedly about what the New Year will bring.
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year!
